We offer our clients insightful market analysis and business intelligence studies for all Southeast Asian countries, except for Myanmar, and for India and Australia. These studies occasionally require the collection and interpretation of sensitive business intelligence for competitors and government decision-makers. Such studies have been prepared in the past to assist companies with market entry decisions such as whether to open a representative office, make a company acquisition, or invest in a standalone project. Our more traditional market analysis involves market segmentation, trend analysis, assessments of country regulatory frameworks, and other assessments that would form part of a SWOT analysis.

Feasibility Studies at the Conceptual and Preliminary Analysis Levels

We prepare feasibility studies at the conceptual and preliminary levels in association with international engineering firms, financial advisory firms, and individuals with complementary expertise at the project or enterprise level.  These studies have, in the past, largely focused on assessing the feasibility of greenfield power and fuel projects that are still in the planning stage of development. However, Roleva Energy has also completed emerging technology feasibility studies for coal upgrading systems and advanced CNG storage vessels.

Due Diligence Analysis for Renewable and Conventional Fuel Projects

We conduct detailed commercial due diligence studies for clients considering project acquisitions or making enterprise-level investments. Our due diligence studies provide a comprehensive assessment of the commercial and regulatory aspects of investing in both renewable and fossil fuel projects, which are either under development or in operation. Where there is a need to conduct a technical audit of a project, we conduct such studies in association with qualified engineering companies. We provide similar studies for company-level acquisition opportunities in Southeast Asia. We understand the critical importance of conducting thorough evaluations to support our client’s final investment decisions.

Transaction Advisory

Over the past 15 years, Bart Lucarelli has been contracted to provide transaction  advisory services, which have included serving as:

• project manager for a team of engineers and economists that assisted the  government of Indonesia with the PPA negotiations for its first Paiton IPP project; 

• advisor to the government of Laos for a mine-mouth, coal-fired power plant project under development in southeastern Laos

• advisor to the government of Laos related to a mine mouth coal project under development in southeastern Laos. 

• coal procurement advisor to over 10 regional IPP companies attempting to procure long-term coal supply on a competitive bid basis for coal-fired power plants under development in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

His transaction advisory support included leading negotiations of coal supply and sea transportation agreements for coal procurement projects and, when working for government agencies, leading negotiations with IPP developers.

Preparation and Delivery of Bespoke Courses on Energy and Sustainability

Roleva Energy has provided its clients with specialized 2-day advanced classes on coal pricing and coal supply agreement terms. More recently it has developed a 2-day course on climate change that covers the fundamentals of climate science as reported in IPCC Assessment Reports and related policy initiatives debated and adopted during the Conferences of Parties conducted annually by the UNFCCC.
